Since we made the switch from a hardware based property management system to a software based system we have been very pleased. As the owner of the company sometimes I want to treat myself and my family to a vacation occasionally. Before we invested in an online PMS, it was difficult for me to get away from the office. I can now travel and enjoy some vacation time without stressing about the company. I have full access to my company as long as I have internet.
Last week I visited my friend in Costa Rica who has a beachfront property. As I enjoyed the week on the beach with my family, I monitored the reservations that were made in the system and kept an eye on the customer service functions. I communicated with my management staff that ran into a few issues. I was able to access all the information necessary to deal with reservation issues and owner issues. I received an email from a friend that wanted to stay at one of our properties. I opened the system, created the reservation, applied a discount and set him up.
At the end of the week I realized that the new online system gives me the opportunity to live a more flexible lifestyle. Aside from vacation, I can work remotely from home or from any of my offices. Some of my managers that need to be hands on with the system also have the capability to work while at home or on vacation. This is all a huge perspective shift. We are very happy with the system so far and would recommend an online system to any property manager.
